Iniciativa quer ajudar dispositivos a reconhecer fala de pessoas com Down

Os algoritmos de reconhecimento de voz são criados a partir de uma pronúncia "padrão" e, por isso, os assistentes de voz muitas vezes não conseguem identificar sotaque locais ou compreender o que dizem pessoas com dificuldades com a fala, incluindo aquelas com síndrome de Down.

Nesse contexto, o “Project Understood”, uma iniciativa da ONG CDSS (Canadian Down Syndrome Society), visa melhorar os algoritmos do Google, criando um banco de dados de vozes de adultos com síndrome de Down.

Filmes criados pela FCB Canadá (veja abaixo) seguem Matt MacNeil, um canadense com Down que trabalha com a CDSS, enquanto viaja para a sede do Google em Mountain View, na Califórnia, para trabalhar com engenheiros e gerentes de produto da empresa, para refinar as ferramentas de reconhecimento de voz.

Outras pessoas com Down podem participar “doandosuas vozes - gravando frases-teste e trava-línguas, como “I owe you a yo-yo today”, no site do Project Understood.
